Girls' Weekend

Okay, so this is a quick post because I should be in bed! I had the chance to go see my roommate from college this weekend!! I had an absolute blast! We kept it really low-key and just hung out and went shopping. It was the perfect schedule-free, child-free weekend. We also were able to get together with another friend from college as well. I definitely feel recharged!

Swimming Lessons

Well, I didn't blog until the third lesson. Sorry! The first lesson was survivable. Not exactly enjoyable. Caleb screamed bloody-murder and kept reaching out to me from the pool to come "save" him. I was in tears at one point, just seeing the look of terror on his face.

Lesson #2: Not as much crying, no screaming, actually looking like he enjoyed parts of it.

Lesson #3: Caleb was crying before we even got to the YMCA. He kept saying he didn't want to go. He pretty much cried through getting changed into his suit, and cried as we sat on the bench waiting for our lesson to start. I handed to the instructor in the water, still crying. Then, lo and behold, he didn't cry for the rest of the time. I think I caught him telling stories at one point. He will put his head under water with no problem, and even jumped into the pool (holding hands) today! He was smiling when he got out! I think we made a big breakthrough today. We'll see how the rest of the week and next week go.

Once again....

Time gets away from me! Let's see, what to catch up on... Dad's been home and doing well.

Brent has left for Annual Training (National Guard). This is always my least favorite part of summer. I'm going to try to plan enough activities with the kids that we pass the time quickly. Caleb is going to be taking swimming lessons starting on Monday next week. I'm anxious to see how that goes. He used to be paranoid of the water. We've been going to the pool to just get him used to it. He's been doing much better than we expected! Hopefully, he continues to do well with the instructor, since it's without the parents. It's a very small class of four kids. Next, we have to figure out when to get Abby into swimming lessons. That child has absolutely no fear. I mean NONE. She'll take a flying leap head-first into anything. We want her to be able to at least paddle once she gets into the water.

I started taking Zumba classes at the YMCA. I've only been to two classes so far. It's fun, but man, I can tell I'm not that coordinated when it comes to dance!

Anyway...that's our lives in a nutshell right now.
