Not a lot happening...

I figured I'd post an update...but there isn't a lot to update about. I feel like I'm tired ALL the time...but I'm guessing that's just from having two little kids. (and one that STILL can't figure out to sleep THROUGH the night).

So, I've been thinking that Abby's about ready to have her two more top teeth come through....and they've been looking like they're cutting through for a long time. I didn't even notice her bottom ones 'til this morning. She now has five teeth...one more on the bottom is almost through, and the two more on top (I swear) are close as well. No wonder the poor kid can't make it through the night. But, having almost a year of sleep deprivation is really getting to me.

Today I took the kiddos to the park. Caleb calls it the butterfly park. It has a huge, wide open field for him to run. I started him chasing butterflies a while ago. Now we have to hunt for them everytime we go to that park. Luckily, there were a lot out today. We have about five parks that are within close walking distance of the house. It's nice 'cause we can change around which ones we go to.

Now...I have to start planning Abby's birthday party that is in two weeks. Anyone got any good (easy) recipes for about thirty people?? (and that's with me scaling it back a bit!)

It's a better day!

Okay, so it was a long night...just like I thought it would be, but mostly just because we weren't supposed to give Abby much to drink at a time. She kept everything down. So far today, she's been really tired, but not sick. Abby and I skipped church this morning and we both slept for almost 2 hours. We needed that!

Anyway....here's a video clip I took a few weeks ago and never got around to posting.

How things change in a day...

Well, the boys got rained out from the camping trip. They got home about 1pm today. Oh the mud! We're still cleaning things...and the tent is now in our backyard to get rinsed off/dry out when the rain stops. Caleb had an absolute blast and did very well. All he could say when he got home was "we got really really muddy!" Oh and that Timothy fell into the fire pit. NOW...don't worry, they couldn't actually use the fire pit...it was too wet. It was camp stoves all the way.

I'm actually really glad they're home. Abby is sick. I went in to get her after her nap...and she had puked so much that the whole crib was covered....and she was still smiling. (this is my non-fussy child!) Needless to say...everything solid we've tried has revisited us. She isn't even keeping Pedialyte down. I already called the doctors. Of course, they said wait overnight and reassess in the morning. I really hope this is just a quick flu bug (but no one she's been in contact with has been sick). I'm pretty worried though...babies get dehydrated so fast. I tried to get her to drink Pedialyte before bed tonight...the bottle touched her lips and she started gagging. I can handle sick toddlers....they're more resilient (and they can tell you what's wrong).

Oh...and the other stressors going on right now...my cousin and his family were in the direct path of the eye of Hurricane Ike. They live near Houston. Last I heard was they had their windows boarded and a food supply nearby. Haven't heard anything since....and I'm guessing the communication lines are horrible right now!

Dad's second surgery is scheduled for Thursday. He'll be getting the generator placed for his deep brain stimulators.

I think it's going to be a looooooooong night!

It's been a while!

I realized I haven't blogged in a while. Let's see...the quick catch-up...Dad had brain surgery, it went really well. Phase 2 is next week. He had his deep brain stimulators implanted for his Parkinson's. It was weird to have him on my unit. I was in charge the day he got admitted (pre-op). I had the actual surgical day off of course. It was supposed to be an 8 hr surgery, but it only took about 4 hours. They were going to discharge him the next day, but he wanted to stay one more. The next surgery is getting the generator placed. And...only my dad...he's having them implant a dual-channel generator, so there is only one for both stimulators...which means he can still go deer hunting and not worry about the butt of the gun on the generator. That was the biggest news these last two weeks.

The kids are still growing like weeds. Abby turns 11 months next week!

Caleb and Brent are camping tonight...it's our caregroup's famly camping trip. I stayed home with Abby. Something about having a crawler/almost walker in a campsite and not wanting her to eat all the dirt, bugs, twigs, etc. deterred us from taking her along. Caleb was so funny...all week he's been asking about camping...we kept telling him that he'd go on Friday. This morning when he woke up, I asked him what he was doing today. He said "camping?" I said "yes!" Then he said "is it Friday?" I laughed so hard. He was so excited he didn't nap today. I asked him where he was going to sleep tonight. He said "in the tent. With a nite-nite hat." Now...that's what we called it last year because it was so cold and I wanted his head covered. We haven't talked about the hat since camping last year. I thought 2 year-olds weren't supposed to be able to retain memories! Anyway...I love camping, don't get me wrong...but I'm kinda glad I'm in a nice dry house. We're supposed to get an inch of rain overnight and another inch and a half tomorrow! I kinda think Brent and Caleb will be back tomorrow instead of Sunday...but we'll see!
