Thought I'd be brave and post my "before I pop" picture since there are a lot of you guys that I haven't seen in quite a while. Now...I do have to say that I'm not as big as I was with Caleb, so there! Anyway...11 days 'til I'm due...

Update on the lock-down...
If you read my previous blog, you'll know what I'm updating about. I just got an email from hospital administration...they caught the guy that caused the lockdown Tuesday night. Turns out, he was caught in San Diego. I wonder if he was actually here or not!!

Never a dull moment...
Well, you'd think working on a neuro unit would bring enough entertainment...and then Tuesday night happened. My patient's family member came back to his room and said "did you know the hospital is in lock-down?" Now, why I had to hear this from a visitor and not from administration is beyond me, but that's besides the point. What happened was that an escaped convict from a work release program phoned the crisis hot line and said he was in the parking ramp with a gun and suicidal. After about an hour and a half, they sounded the all-clear for the ramp...and said we could leave at the end of our shift as soon as our replacement arrived. We were told we had to leave in groups and be shuttled to our cars. They still weren't letting anyone except employees come in to the main entrance. Anyway...turns out we didn't need to be shuttled to our cars and we walked in a large group to the parking lot. On the way, we decided to count the police cars that were at the hospital. Just from the main entrance to the parking lot (about 0.3 miles), we counted 47 police cars. That's not counting the ones that were at the other hospital entrances! Not to mention, they had rather large weapons too. They never found the suspect and are now thinking that he called it in as a hoax. And...now life is back to normal. If you want to see the news releases, check out www.channel3000.com or www.nbc15.com
That's the biggest news around here. I'm, of course, still pregnant...and getting impatient. The countdown is 13 days 'til I'm due...but I'll probably go late like with Caleb (he was 14 days late...just to remind ya!), so who knows!! It will be nice to be able to keep up with Caleb again...man, that kid can run!! I wish I had just a little bit of his energy. His feet start running before he gets out of bed in the morning and don't stop 'til we lay him back into bed. I'm actually not exaggerating that. He starts kicking the wall as soon as he wakes up...that's how he wakes us up. OH!....but today he let us sleep in until 6:30am...wasn't that very thoughtful!!

Camping!
Yes, that’s right, we went camping…in tents (slept on mattresses), in the woods, nearest flush toilets were ¼ mile away, and I am now at 37 weeks!
Here’s the quick list of highlights from the trip:
3 days, 2 nights
Six Families (our small group/care group from church)
Six kids, ages 7, 4, almost-3, 2, and two almost-2-year-olds. Three of which were experiencing their first camping trip.
1 broken record for low temperature- 31ยบ (brrrrrrr)
Hiking to see a waterfall…we’re guessing about 4 miles, with toddlers and only one person had a backpack carrier for the kids.
Yummy campfire-food- thank you to the cooks!!!
Lots of relaxing, fun time to spend with good friends!
It was a little exhausting to say the least, but we had so much fun! Caleb loved it…except waking up Saturday morning…but he got through that after a van ride. Caleb slept like a champ through the nights and napped very well. Of course, for bedtime, he had 3 sets of pj’s on….a fall set, and two fleece footy-pjs, along with his stocking cap. He then slept in a sleeping bag with a fleece blanket over that! He may have been the warmest one in our tent! Of course, the advantage of it being cold was that the mosquitoes were not a problem. We didn’t even have to use bug spray. We had plenty of warm campfires and hot chocolate to warm us up!
