We had Abby's birthday party on Saturday. The grandparents, Great-Grandparents, and my brother made it up for the day. Abby was so excited, it was funny! She kept running round the house that morning saying "It's my birthday party! It's my birthday party!"
Abby was well spoiled with all the gifts she got, and she loved every one of them! She got a high chair, pack and play, and cradle for her dolls. She got an "animal hospital" so she can play vet or doctor. She also got a tea set that sings and makes noises when you poor it out. She received money as well, and we will put that into her savings account. :) We got her a play kitchen....and the kids have been "cooking" for us quite a bit!
Abby still has a cough that she's had for about a week....Caleb got a fever Saturday night and is still fighting it off. I hope that the grandparents and great grandparents don't catch it.
It was really exciting to have Brent's grandmother make it to the party! If you remember from previous blogs, we thought we were going to lose her a short time back. At one point, she was basically unresponsive and was actually on comfort cares for a few days. She is now being followed by a physician up here in Madison and has changed nursing homes. What a difference that made! She has started seeing the Madison doctor about a week before she got really bad. She was on a bunch of medications that he recommended got changed. The physician following her in the nursing home wasn't following any of the recommendations. Brent's parents got her into a nursing home closer to them with a more familiar physician (one that's been her doc for years). At the new nursing home, they actually started following Madison's recommendations...that combined with being closer to home must have done the trick. She's able to walk again with a walker (had been using a hydraulic lift), she's bright, aware of what's going on around her, and able to get out of the nursing home for the day, etc. She's like a completely different person!
